Alpbach occupies a beautiful location on a sunny plateau at approx. 1.000m above sea level. Thanks to its homogenous architectural style and lovely floral decorations Alpbach was voted "Austria´s most beautiful village".
With just 400 inhabitants and a surface area of 10 ha Rattenberg is Austria´s smallest historical town. The medieval pedestrian zone is dominated by the unique displays of glass craft in the numerous shops.
After a ride with the Reitherkogelbahn a 2,5 km long, varied path awaits you. The path is suitable for prams and buggies.
The Hildegard association have commited themselves to bringing ancient herbal lore closer to the gardens visitors.
The gardens are an ideal excursion destination for groups. Individual guided tours can be booked by prior arrangment. Please contact the tourist office team for help.
Every Wednesday a special guided tour through the garden (in German) takes place. Not only is the garden full of medicinal herbs, but there´s also a barefoot path for on the spot wellbeing.The "Einfach Leben Laden" shop in Reith i.A. village centre sells many of the numerous Hildegard von Bingen herbal and other products.
The modern Alpine coaster has its start at an altitude of 1.845 m next to the Wiedersbergerhorn gondola lift top station.
The two seater sledges can reach speeds of up to 40 kmph descending over 134 vertical metres over two jumps and through two 360° twists. Up to 500 people can use the new „Lauser Sauser“ per hour – not only downhill, the coaster carries passengers and the sledge back to the top
The Congress Centrum Alpbach is situated in the middle of „Austria’s Most Beautiful Village “. The list of Alpbach conferences, particularly the annually held European Forum Alpbach and of its participants which contains many Nobel Prize winners, top politicians and dignitaries from many fields is long. The Congress Centrum has 8 meeting rooms (which also can be joined together). The largest room can accommodate 850 persons.
